Detroit Tigers ballboy falls into crowd on Miguel Cabrera hit (Video)

It’s not easy to be a ballboy (or ballgirl) at a Major League Baseball game. Sure, it looks rather boring but there’s a lot of quick thinking involved.

Make the wrong decision and you just interfered with the game. To make matters worse, if you just so happened to cost your home team a positive play, you’ll have 40,000 angry people booing and shouting obscenities in your direction as you sit on a comically small stool.
Not wanting to have that happen on Friday night was a ballboy for the Detroit Tigers.
Standing down the left field line, the ballboy had to move quickly after Miguel Cabrera laced a shot that was just fair. Only problem? He couldn’t just shuffle out of the way as he had no place to go. He did his best to show off his athletic ability and sit on the railing but things didn’t work out as he had hoped, falling into the Detroit Tigers home crowd.
You know what would have been the ultimate snafu? Falling into the crowd while your uncontrolled leg smacks the ball, making the play dead as you sit in a position similar to a twisted up pretzel.
Thankfully such a situation was avoided and Miguel Cabrera was able to pick up a double while the Detroit Tigers ballboy lived to see another play, embarrassed or not.
Count me out next time an MLB team has a ballboy opening.
