There is good news for the Kansas City Chiefs as they prepare for their Monday night game against the New England Patriots. Running back Jamaal Charles, out last week due to a high ankle sprain, is listed as probable for the week 4 showdown.

Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports that Charles practiced for three straight days at the end of the week and should be good to go for this game. That is welcome news for a Chiefs’ team that has to work awfully hard to manufacture offense when their electric running back is not on the field.

Charles has gotten off to a slow start this season thanks to a lack of touches in week 1 and this ankle injury that cut his week 2 outing short and kept him out in week 3. One imagines that Charles feels a little bit like his season hasn’t started at all. For the Chiefs and for panicking fantasy football players everywhere, it will be good to see Charles back on the field Monday night.

High ankle sprains can be fickle injuries. Sometimes they keep guys out for months, while in other cases players are able to return relatively quickly. The Chiefs will still need to see Charles at full-speed to feel good about the situation, but it looks like they might have dodged a bullet on this one.
