After a very solid offseason the Dallas Mavericks appear set to be a threat in the NBA’s Western Conference. That’s not to say they’re void of any weakness though.

More from Dallas Mavericks

While the team did acquire Tyson Chandler in a deal with the New York Knicks, Dallas’ backup big men aren’t exactly the most reliable and Jabari Davis thinks a trade to improve their frontcourt depth could be possible.

"If anything, we may have to wait and see what guys like Brandon Wright, Ivan Johnson and Greg Smith can provide as reserve bigs. That could be an area that needs to be addressed if a couple of those guys simply didn’t pan out or were to get dinged up."

Obviously there’s not much reason for the Dallas Mavericks to make a trade right now as the team wants to see what type of production they can count on from the bench. That said, it looks to be something the front office plans to monitor and could be an option as the season gets deeper.

There are usually a significant amount of solid big men available (Jason Thompson, Carl Landry, etc) so the Dallas Mavericks shouldn’t have much trouble finding talent if they need it, though if they need a defensive force in the paint that may be a bit more difficult to find.

For now the team will run with their current roster and repair holes as needed.
