Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse for the Oakland Raiders, things got worse as they were embarrassed against the Miami Dolphins in London as they lost by the score of 38-14 and had injury added to insult.

Rookie quarterback Derek Carr was forced out of the game and replaced by Matt McGloin with what looked like a knee or ankle injury.

Now the injury is both a high ankle sprain and a sprained MCL, according to Raiders insider for Comcast Bay Area Scott Blair.

I guess it could be worse. Carr could have torn his ACL, broken his ankle or gone blind. That wouldn’t be a surprise considering the luck the Raiders had with their quarterbacks over the last decade.

The high ankle sprain usually sidelines players for at least two-three weeks and in some cases even longer. An MCL sprain can be a multiple week injury as well, so it would look like Carr will be out for a few weeks.

Carr threw a touchdown on the Raiders first possession today, but then things took an ugly turn as the Raiders were outscored 38-7 the rest of the game.

McGloin will be the starter until Matt Schaub rejoins the team who was with his wife who needed an emergency caesarean section to deliver the couple’s child last week.
