After two disappointing weeks for the Miami Dolphins, Ryan Tannehill and the gang looked like their Week 1-selves and dominated the Oakland Raiders 38-14 in the NFL’s annual game across the pond in London’s Wembley Stadium. Miami improves to 2-2 on the season, while Oakland remains defeated at 0-4.
Oakland’s rookie quarterback Derek Carr left the game in the second half with a leg injury and did not return. It’s not yet known how serious the injury is.

The Raiders came out strong. With a balances offensive attack of five runs and five passes, Carr found Brian Leonhardt for a three yard touchdown pass off of play action. On that drive, Carr found James Jones on the first play from scrimmage for a 30-yard completion.

The Raiders would go up 7-0, but the Dolphins would answer with 38 straight points before Oakland found the scoreboard again. On the next drive, the Dolphins were moving the ball well but Ryan Tannehill–who has struggled with the accuracy on his deep ball all year–missed a wide-open Brian Hartline. Miami settled for a field goal. Tannehill didn’t miss on the next drive. First, he found Jarvis Landry for an 18-yard pass, then hit Hartline two plays later for 35 yards. At Oakland’s 13-yard line, Tannehill hit Mike Wallace on the screen, who turned a tough run into a touchdown to give Miami the 10-7 lead. On the Dolphins’ next drive, the team opted to go for it on fourth-and-inches on the Raiders’ nine-yard line. They pitched it to Lamar Miller, who turned it upfield to give Miami a 17-7 lead.
Tannehill was getting into a groove. In the midst of a 14-pass completion streak, Tannehill capped off the next possession with an 18-yard strike to tight end Dion Sims to go up 24-7.
On the first possession of the second half, it looked like the Dolphins weren’t going to let up. On Oakland’s goal line, Miller fumbled a sure touchown into the endzone, where Oakland recovered and took possession.
The Raiders couldn’t capitalize. On third-and-10, Carr’s pass was intercepted by Brent Grimes. It was the Dolphins’ first pick of the season.
Miller got it right on the next drive, taking the ball from the goal line for the score to give the Dolphins a 31-7 lead.
On Oakland’s next possession, Carr got hurt and limped off the field. Backup Matt McGloin came in and immediately boched the snap. Dolphins’ corner Cortland Finnegan was blitzing and recovered the ball. He ran it back 50 yards and the Dolphins were up 38-7.
Later in the fourth quarter, McGloin found Andre Holmes for a nice 22-yard touchdown pass thanks to a blown coverage by Dolphins corner Will Davis. It was 38-14, and much too late to make a comeback.
Carr finished the game 16-of-25 for 146 yards, a touchdown and interception. Tannehill completed 23-of-31 passes for 278 yards, two touchdowns and a pick with a quarterback rating of 109.3.
Miami out-rushed Oakland 157 yards to 53 and found the red zone eight times compared to just once for the Raiders. The Dolphins defense forced four turnovers.
Both teams enter their bye in Week 5. The Dolphins will play the Green Bay Packers when they return, and the Raiders will face the San Diego Chargers.
