It seems as if Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith isn’t only trolling the Carolina Panthers with his impressive play today, he’s also trolling a referee.

More from Baltimore Ravens

With Baltimore sitting on a comfortable lead, Smith was the target of a Joe Flacco pass and while it didn’t pick up a first down it did put the Ravens in plus territory.

Upon the tackle, Steve Smith stood up and rushing in came the referee ready to spot the ball. Only problem? Smith didn’t give him the ball – in fact – he decided to hide it. Yep, as Smith got on his feet he walked by the referee with the ball seemingly extended only to wrap it behind himself as the referee went to grab for it.

Not wanting to lose his placement the referee didn’t go chase after the ball which Steve Smith dropped a few yards later as he began his return to the huddle.

The only logical reason for Steve Smith doing this (other than for being egotistical Steve Smith) is he knew he was short of the first down and simply wanted the referee to leave his spot. Otherwise, it just seems as if Steve Smith was trying to be his irritating self.

Pretty funny, of course, though a total asshole move.
