During the past offseason, former Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley did everything to show he was healthy enough to play in the NFL. Only problem? Nobody else agreed as both the Packers and Seattle Seahawks decided to look elsewhere despite bringing him in for a physical.

Out of work, Jermichael Finley applied for a $10 million dollar disability insurance policy which Jason La Canfora says will all but certainly keep him off the field this season.
"Once the final paperwork on that policy is filed, which is forthcoming, the process itself is likely to take several months before any payments are made. But at that point, it renders playing in the NFL in 2014 virtually impossible."
Finley has continually received speculative interest from some teams, most recently the Baltimore Ravnes, though doesn’t appear healthy enough to play right now. That’s obviously a risk no team wants to take and Finley’s not going to make $10 million dollars no matter where he signs. Given all that it seems reasonable to believe that Jermichael Finley will not be playing in the NFL this season.
What that means for the future of Jermichael Finley’s career is unknown. He will be free to play in the NFL next season if he’s healthy enough, but he’ll also essentially be two years removed from the game.
