New York Jets fans chant for Michael Vick to replace Geno Smith

When Michael Vick signed with the New York Jets this past offseason you knew there would be a quarterback controversy.

The bigger question is when exactly that time would come. Apparently we have our answer as it’s only taken until Week 4 for fans at MetLife Stadium to begin chanting for Rex Ryan to bench Geno Smith in favor of Michael Vick.
Smith, who has been average at best this season struggled against the Detroit Lions in Week 4 and was serenaded by boo birds after a late interception. The booing didn’t last long though it was replaced by ‘WE WANT VICK’ chants which echoed throughout the stadium.
For what it’s worth, Geno Smith looked unfazed by the chanting while Michael Vick looked rather stoic on the sideline with clipboard in hand as New York Jets fans let their feelings be known.
Putting Michael Vick into the game against the Lions would all but be a crushing blow to Geno Smith’s already shaken confidence so it’s unlikely Smith will be pulled today. That said you have to wonder how much longer Rex Ryan and the New York Jets will ride with Geno Smith if he continues to have issues.
Of course, in the case of Michael Vick, the grass is always greener and there’s no evidence to suggest the veteran will be all that much better if given the starting gig.
