Panthers-Ravens inactives: Jonathan Stewart out, DeAngelo Williams in
By Phil Watson
There’s good news and bad news for the banged-up Carolina Panthers backfield on Sunday.
Running back Jonathan Stewart is inactive for their matchup with the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium because of a knee injury, but running back DeAngelo Williams is active despite a thigh injury and will start.

Of course, this matchup is all about Ravens receiver Steve Smith taking on his former team for the first time since he was released in the spring. Smith spent 13 years with the Panthers and is their franchise leader in every major receiving category. He was let go after a 64-catch, 745-yard season in 2013, his lowest full-season totals since his second year in 2002.
This season, Smith has 18 receptions in 32 targets for 290 yards and a score.
Williams hasn’t played since the opener in Tampa Bay for Carolina, when he had 72 yards on 14 carries before leaving with the thigh problem.
Stewart was knocked out of last week’s loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers with a knee injury and has 88 yards on 29 carries this year, scoring one touchdown. He also has seven catches for 58 yards.
