Following back-to-back losses, the Miami Dolphins responded with a dominant victory over the Oakland Raiders in London’s Wembley Stadium. The Dolphins are back to .500 at 2-2, and seem confident after a week in which their starting quarterback was facing some in-house drama.

Over the last week, Joe Philbin wasn’t committed to Ryan Tannehill as his starting quarterback. Tannehill started the game Sunday, but was thought to be on a short leash if he struggled early.

Instead, Tannehill showed significant resolve and had his best game of the season. According to ESPN.com’s James Walker, he’s locked up the starting job for the moment.

"Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill showed resolve after a tough week that included a non-endorsement from head coach Joe Philbin. Tannehill responded with one of his most impressive games of his career. He had a near-perfect first half — which included 14 straight completions — and finished with 278 yards, two touchdowns and one interception late in the second half. Tannehill had a passer rating of 109.3. There is no question about Tannehill’s status as the starting quarterback entering Miami’s bye week."

Tannehill completed 23-of-31 passes for 278 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. At one point during the first half, he completed 14-straight passes. That’s good for the second-longest streak in Dolphins history (with Chad Pennington and Chad Henne tied with 17-pass streaks).

For now, it seems Tannehill has locked down the starting job over Matt Moore. But he’s done more than that, too. He’s established some much needed confidence going into the bye week. Tannehill and the Dolphins will face Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers in a couple of weeks.
