Whether or not Rubio deserves that kind of money has been quite the debate because of his poor shooting but the Timberwolves likely figure they can’t afford to lose Rubio after trading Kevin Love.

Rubio was originally selected by the Timberwolves with the fifth-overall selection in the first round of the 2009 NBA Draft. Rubio came over from Spain to join the Timberwolves for the 2011-2012 season. In his career, he’s averaged 10.1 points, 8.1 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game while shooting 36.8% from the floor, 32.3% from three and 80.1% from the charity stripe.
