Teddy Bridgewater to make first NFL start

The Teddy Bridgewater era in Minnesota has finally begun.

More from Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings will start the rookie quarterback, who was the 32nd overall selection in this year’s NFL draft. Bridgewater brings with him to the NFL a storied college career at Louisville which saw him pass for 72 touchdowns and nearly 10,000 yards in three seasons while with the Cardinals.

The former pre-season Heisman trophy award hopeful will attempt to change the fortunes of a Vikings squad that just presumably lost their greatest asset, and probably the top running back in the league in Adrian Peterson for the rest of the season.

Minnesota started off the season in great form with a 34-6 beatdown of a St. Louis Rams team that had just lost Sam Bradford for the year and was still getting used to long time NFL backup Shaun Hill.

Since that first game, the team has been reeling as Matt Cassel and company have taken 2 straight losses to both New England (30-7) and New Orleans (20-9).

On top of this, the losses of Peterson and Cassel and essentially gutted the offense of any sort of real firepower. That is where they hand the offense to Bridgewater.

The Vikings take on the 2-1 Atlanta Falcons today at TCF Bank Stadium today at 4:25 EST.
