Keith Olbermann weighs in on Twins’ Gardenhire move
Monday, the Minnesota Twins announced the firing of manager Ron Gardenhire. Of course, it only took a matter of a couple of hours for ESPN’s Keith Olbermann to add his two cents.

As Keith Olbermann has made a habit of, a public roast wasn’t the way in which he decided to confront the Twins’ brass, but rather on his Twitter account. This afternoon, likely after first hearing of the firing, Olbermann responded with the following:
Now I get it, Keith Olbermann has a show on ESPN 2 because the news network believes that his takes should be heard (for what it’s worth, the network believes the same of Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith). That being said, he couldn’t be more wrong here.
Having covered the Twins for much of the 2014 season, and followed them for much of Gardenhire’s tenure, cowardice has next to nothing to do with this move. Ron Gardenhire is a great guy, and its unfortunate bad things have to happen to good people, but sports are also a business.
Terry Ryan saw a manager that was as equally responsible for winning while the Twins were good, as he was losing the past few years while the Twins have been bad. A move needed to be made.
When looking towards the future, there is brightness on the horizon. Expecting a fan base, sponsors, and supporters to be there for it by endorsing the man writing the lineups for a team with four straight 90 loss campaigns however couldn’t happen.
If anything, general manager Terry Ryan made the tough move by firing a guy that was a casualty of poor management during the tenure of former general manager Bill Smith, but that’s another story.
While I get Olbermann’s intent with Gardenhire being a genuinely good guy, you got this one wrong Keith.
