Kevin Durant wants to play in 2016 Olympics

Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant withdrew from Team USA in this summer’s World Cup in Brazil, but he’s said he wants to be back on the roster for the 2016 Summer Olympics:

There was speculation Durant withdrew from Team USA this summer after an awful injury to Paul George ruined the Indiana Pacers’ forward’s season, while others think it had more to do with a big
Durant was about to sign with Under Armour or Nike. Durant told Team USA he was “mentally and physically drained” following the NBA playoffs when withdrew his name from tryouts.
But even though 2016 will be the same summer Durant can become a free agent, it’s not a huge surprise to see he’s eager to play for the team in the Olympics. It’s expected that many stars who sat out the World Cup this year, including LeBron James and Kevin Love of the Cleveland Cavaliers, could return for the Olympics in Rio.
For now, the Thunder appear to be the front-runners to retain Durant as well, but it’s probably not a major concern for the team as 2016 is still two years away.
