When the offseason began it was possible the Los Angeles Lakers team may not have even defeated a D-League squad. But general manager Mitch Kupchak made some rather solid moves which included the addition of both Carlos Boozer and Jeremy Lin.

No, it wasn’t Carmelo Anthony or LeBron James but Boozer and Lin have proven themselves to be very solid talent. More importantly, they’re also not going to eat in the Los Angeles Lakers valuable cap space moving forward. Given that it seems as if the additions should make a positive impact for the Lakers, so much in fact that Kupchak believes he’s assembled a playoff worthy roster according to Sam Amico.
"Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak believes a return to the playoffs is possible, with Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash healthy again, along with the additions Carlos Boozer and Jeremy Lin."
While the Los Angeles Lakers aren’t likely to be the worst team in the Western Conference as predicted by many early in the offseason, making the playoffs in the very deep Western Conference seems extremely unlikely. Keep in mind it’s likely to take at minimum 50-wins just to sniff the eighth seed and the Lakers, fully healthy or not, aren’t in position to pull that off right now.
That said the team will have plenty of cap space next season to build towards the future and a return to form could be on the horizon.
