Ricky Rubio Rumors: New contract close to being agreed upon?

The Minnesota Timberwolves are tryimg to put together a team that will finally become a winner for the franchise, and part of that work involves getting players already on roster to come back long term.

Ricky Rubio is the reason man believe Kevin Love is in Cleveland right now, as the previous Wolves regime earmarked a max deal for the guard. In failing to give that deal to Love, the Wolves lost out on an extra year with the forward and now have to pay a struggling Rubio.
Rubio wants the max, and the Wolves have been steadfast in not wanting to give it to him. But according to Steve Kyler from Basketball Insiders, a deal looks like it’s going to happen soon.
Ricky Rubio and the Wolves seem like they will make a deal before the October 31 deadline... there is a desire by both to make a deal.

This doesn’t mean a deal will for sure get done, but it’s looking like the Wolves want to get something done soon. It may not be a max deal, however there’s no guarantee that Rubio will get a max offer on the open market.
