Chicago Cubs haven’t ruled out Manny Ramirez as a coach
By Ed Carroll
Chicago Cubs president Theo Epstein apparently hasn’t dismissed the idea of having Manny Ramirez as the team’s assistant hitting coach:

Ramirez was with Chicago’s Triple-A team in Iowa as a coach-player, but Epstein has been consistent in saying that Manny won’t be an option as a player for the big-league club. But Epstein thinks Ramirez could be a good mentor for the bevy of young sluggers the Cubs have either already on the roster, or on their way from the farm, including Javier Baez, who is expected to start at second base for Chicago in 2015.
Ramirez played for 19 seasons in MLB, mostly with the Cleveland Indians and Boston Red Sox, including the 2004 and 2007 World Series champion-winning Boston teams. Ramirez last played in the Majors in 2011, when he had 17 at bats with the Tampa Bay Rays before abruptly retiring amid allegations of performance-enhancing drug use.
Manny can still hit Triple-A pitching, at least, and for your viewing pleasure, here’s a grainy video of his first home run with the Iowa Cubs:
