The Washington Nationals boast one of the most intimidating and loaded rosters in baseball as the 2014 MLB playoffs prepare to get underway. Look no further than the fact that they are looking to potentially use standout starting pitcher Tanner Roark out of the bullpen as evidence of that fact.

Roark might be one of the top starters for many teams after the season he posted in 2014, but not for the Nationals. Bill Ladson of MLB.com writes the following about how the Nationals might use Roark:

"Nationals manager Matt Williams has not announced his rotation during the National League Division Series, which starts Friday at Nationals Park. It will be interesting to see what role Tanner Roark will play in the postseason. All indications have him coming out of the bullpen — at least for the first round."

Ladson also notes that Roark might get used out of the rotation in later rounds if Washington advances. Until then, the Nationals will leave it to guys like Stephen Strasburg, Jordan Zimmerman, and Gio Gonzalez to be their starters. Oh, and Doug Fister. Did I mention the Nationals are stacked?

Roark went 15-10 this season with a 2.85 ERA in 31 starts and an impressive 198.2 innings of work.
