Jarrod Dyson steals third, sets up tying run, does an awesome dance (Video)
By Hayden Kane
To attempt to steal third base, down one run, with only one out, in the bottom of the ninth inning of a single-elimination game is a bold, risky move. That is exactly what Kansas City Royals’ speedster Jarrod Dyson attempted on Tuesday night against the Oakland Athletics in the American League Wild Card game.

Dyson was pinch-running for Josh Willingham, who led off the inning with a bloop single with the Royals down 7-6. He was bunted up to second base and was there with one out and Nori Aoki at the plate. With Aoki being left-handed, it was an even riskier endeavor to attempt to steal third base because Oakland catcher Derek Norris had a clean look at the throw.
Dyson pulled it off anyway, putting himself a sacrifice fly away from tying the game and saving the Royals’ season.
The only thing better than the stolen base is the well-deserved celebration. No moment is too big for a little nod to your boys in the dugout when you pull off a gigantic play like that one.
Aoki delivered a deep sacrifice fly to right field, the game went into extra innings, and the Royals lived to fight another day.
