The Denver Nuggets need to decide if they’re going to pay Kenneth Faried this season or if they’re going to let the market set his value by letting him hit restricted free agency.

More from Denver Nuggets

Logic would suggest that the Nuggets want to lock up their best player in a long term contract but while Faried will be seeking max money, Denver isn’t so hot on that idea. According to Chris Dempsey of The Denver Post, don’t expect Faried to get a max offer from the Nuggets anytime soon.

"There have been some who have predicted Faried would get a max deal, but given the comparables at his position, power forward, and the fact that he’s still got his best basketball ahead of him, there’s no way this contract will be a max deal. But it will be a significant jump in salary. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least to see it end up around an average of $12 million per year."

Faried is one of the fastest rising big men in the game today, and he’s going to be an All-Star for multiple years in Denver. But he’s not worth max money in the eyes of many out there, but that could all change with a truly breakout season this year for Faried.
