While the 2014-15 NBA season has yet to tip off, it seems as if some are already thinking about the 2015 offseason and what key free agents like Marc Gasol plan to do.

More from Memphis Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies center is likely to be one of (if not the biggest) free agent draws on the market if he doesn’t sign an extension as the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks are both expected to covet the big man. That’s rather tough competition but the center says he’s happy to be with the Memphis Grizzlies although admits he doesn’t know what the future will bring.

“You don’t’ know how you’re going to feel seven months from now in June,” Marc Gasol said. “You don’t know how you’re going to feel and how the season is going to go. But I can tell you how I feel right now, and how happy I am to be here, and how excited I am about the season and the city, and about my teammates. That’s how I feel right now.”

While Marc Gasol may not be a typical ‘franchise’ player he’s not somebody the Memphis Grizzlies can afford to lose if they want to remain competitive. It’s in their best interest to lock him up before he hits free agency because if such is to happen, it may prove difficult to keep Pau Gasol’s younger brother in Tennessee.
