Mark Davis: Oakland Raiders job is ‘enticing’
After firing Dennis Allen, the Oakland Raiders named former Miami Dolphins’ head coach Tony Sparano as their interim head coach. No one expects Sparano to keep the job and that has led to speculation about who will be their next coach.

Raiders’ owner Mark Davis believes the job will be very enticing for a new coach.
“The organization itself is in a very good position to move forward, whether Tony Sparano wins this year and becomes the permanent head coach of the Raiders or we bring in another head coach,” Davis said via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. “I believe the salary cap, contracts, all of those things, I think we’re going to have $60-$65 million in cap space next year and so it’s quite an encouraging thing and enticing for a new head coach if in fact we find one and go through a search that this could be an organization they would want to be with.”
There have been rumors that Jon Gruden could be in play. The former Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ head coach has a cushy job doing Monday Night Football with Mike Tirico on ESPN but is said to be very impressed with Raiders’ rookie quarterback Derek Carr.
