James hasn’t excelled during his pro career, but he hasn’t been terrible either and a successful career is still possible. This is a guy who was a second-round pick just two seasons ago.
Regardless, this was a smart move for a Dolphins team that is short on running backs at the moment with Knowshon Moreno injured.
James’ agent, Jeff Sperkbeck, broke the news.
Congrats to @LaMichaelJames for joining the @MiamiDolphins He knows the offense well. Great fit.

Still, James might not be headed to the 53-man roster. Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald reported hours before the signing that the Fins were talking to James about joining the practice squad.
The Dolphins, who worked out former Oregon star RB LaMichael James two weeks ago, are again talking with him about joining p-squad.

James was released by the San Francisco 49ers on Sept. 8. He has racked up 41 carries for 185 yards for his career.
