This morning, the Oakland Raiders had a team meeting and then Tony Sparano, assistant head coach and offensive line coach, held a meeting of his own. While no announcements have been made, it looks like Sparano could be the interim head coach after all.

This comes from Jay Glazer early Monday afternoon.

Monday night, Raiders head coach Dennis Allen was fired after the Raiders started 0-4 coming off of a 38-14 blowout loss to the Miami Dolphins at the iconic Wembley Stadium in London in Week 4. Allen was 8-23 in his three seasons as the Oakland Raiders’ head coach, so it was clear that a move needed to be made.

Also on Monday night, reports surfaced that Tony Sparano would not be named interim head coach of the Oakland Raiders despite his experience level. Sparano served four years as head coach of the Miami Dolphins from 2008-2011 and has the most recent head coaching experience of any member of the Raiders coaching staff.

Fallon Smith of CSNBayArea.com said Sparano will not fill that role in a tweet that said, “I’ve also been told Tony Sparano will NOT be the #Raiders interim head coach.” This tweet has since been deleted. Smith said Tuesday morning that the decision has come down to Sparano and senior offensive assistant Al Saunders.

It looks like Sparano may have been named the interim head coach this morning, but no announcement has been made.
