It’s nearly October, meaning the MLB playoffs are soon upon us, and if you’re a gambler looking to make money, you should know the Los Angeles teams — the Dodgers in the National League and the Angels in the American League — are the favorites to win the World Series this year, while the Kansas City Royals have the worst odds (and the best payouts).

More from MLB

The AL West champion Los Angeles Angels have the best record in baseball, and the Los Angeles Dodgers have one of the highest payrolls in MLB, so it’s not terribly surprising to see the teams have the same odds and payouts if they were to win the World Series. Betting $100 on either team would win you $500 if the team were to win the championship.

Right behind the LA teams is the Washington Nationals; betting $100 on the NL East champs would win you $550. The AL Central champion Detroit Tigers could win you $600 if they won rings this October (and you bet $100 on them). If you put $100 on either of the bird teams — the Baltimore Orioles and St. Louis Cardinals — you’d win $700 or $800, respectively, if either won the title.

The four teams in the Wild Card games understandably have the worst odds entering the postseason — a loss in the Wild Card game ends a team’s season, and anything can happen in a one-game playoff. Still, rolling with these teams is where the big money is, as betting $100 on the Oakland Athletics or Pittsburgh Pirates can give you a return of $1,400.

Betting the same amount on the San Francisco Giants could net you $1,700, and the Kansas City Royals have the worst playoff odds, but betting $100 on Ned Yost’s bunch could bring you back $1,800 if the Royals stand tall in October once again.
