It’s been a long summer for Alonzo Gee.

More from NBA

Beginning the summer with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Gee was traded from Cleveland to the Charlotte Hornets, from Charlotte to the Houston Rockets, then from Houston to the Sacramento Kings. Upon arrival in Sacramento, Gee’s tenure didn’t last long, as the franchise agreed to waive him.

Now Gee finds himself a member of the Denver Nuggets on a non-guaranteed deal, but if he can make it to opening night, that deal will become fully guaranteed, reports Eric Picnus of Basketball Insiders.

While there are no guarantees, Gee’s chances of making the roster should be pretty high. With Danilo Gallinari (missed all of last season) and Wilson Chandler (played 113 of a possible 230 games the last three seasons) dealing with injury issues, the need for certainty behind those two is huge for Denver. And with Quincy Miller being the lone small forward behind Gallo and Chandler, Gee gives the Nuggets a proven presence in case he’s immediately needed.

Last season, Gee had a down year, averaging 4.0 points per game (a career-low) on 41 percent shooting from the field and 32 percent shooting from three. If Gee can find a way to produce similar numbers to his 2012-13 season while finding consistency, the Nuggets may have stumbled upon a solid find.

Or it’s back to the drawing board for Gee.
