Paul Molitor to meet with Twins
The Minnesota Twins fired Ron Gardenhire on Monday morning, and despite Terry Ryan mentioning that he would be conducting an exhaustive search both inside and outside of the season, the club is set to meet with Paul Molitor. The Twins are replacing their first manager in 13 years.

Molitor was techinically let go on Monday as well, being that Gardenhire’s entire staff was let go. However, Molitor has always been assumed to be the favorite to land the next manager position with the club, and that now is gaining steam.
The Minneapolis Star Tribune has reported that the Twins and Molitor will be meeting on Wednesday about the vacant managerial position. It appears that Molitor met with general manager Terry Ryan as well a few other members of the Twins brass.
Look for the Twins to move quickly in finding their next manager, as stability is something the organization is known for.
Outside of Molitor, the manager of the Twins Single-A Fort Myers Miracle, Doug Mientkiewicz is also a front runner. Outside of the organization, the Twins have been linked to Boston Red Sox bench coach Torey Lovullo, and White Sox third base coach Joe McEwing.
As a Twins fan, and someone who has covered the team much of the season, it was always believed that Moltior being brought on in 2013 was a placeholder until the managerial job was turned over to him. Look for both hitting coach Tom Brunansky and bench coach Terry Steinbach to return to the team as well.
