Rudy Gay rumors: Could Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings make a deal?

The Phoenix Suns hoped to make a big move last season but kept their core together after an excellent start. They showed interest in trading for both Pau Gasol and Rudy Gay but the Los Angeles Lakers decided to keep Gasol and Gay was dealt by the Toronto Raptors to the Sacramento Kings.

Chuck Myron of Hoops Rumors believes the Suns could have interest in Gay again this year.

"They had interest in Rudy Gay last year, and he’ll be on a large expiring contract unless he and the Kings do an extension. The Kings love Rudy, but they love to trade, so maybe there’s something there."

Both Gay and the Kings have expressed their desire to work out a long-term deal so trading Gay seems like a long-shot. However, it shouldn’t be ruled out.

Last season, Gay averaged 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 45.5% from the field, 33.0% from beyond the arc and 82.2% from the free throw line. Gay has put up 18.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 45.1% from the field, 34.2% from three and 78.4% from the charity stripe in his eight-year career.
