New Orleans Pelicans rumors: Pelicans to trade Ryan Anderson?

The New Orleans Pelicans traded for Houston Rockets’ center Omer Asik early in the offseason. That gives them three legitimate starters in the front court with Asik, Ryan Anderson and one of the game’s best young players, Anthony Davis.

Chuck Myron of Hoops Rumors could see the Pelicans dealing Anderson to solve their problem.

"Who better than Doc Brown to ask a question about the future? Well, if we were to climb into your Delorean and set the time machine for deadline on February 19th, I think we’d see Rondo’s name in a ton of rumors. Ryan Anderson’s name will probably come up, too, since it’ll be tough to sort out minutes at the 4 and 5 in New Orleans with Anthony Davis and Omer Asik both there. The Bucks will probably end up dangling one of their frontcourt pieces, whether it’s Larry Sanders, Ersan Ilyasova, or someone else. And don’t rule out Phoenix trying to unload one of its guards."

Anderson is an excellent shooter and rebounder but if the Pelicans are going to use Davis as a power forward then they should ship Anderson for the best return possible. Anderson was excellent playing next to Dwight Howard with the Orlando Magic so the Rockets could be a good fit.

Anderson averaged 19.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting 43.8% from the field, 40.9% from beyond the arc and 95.2% from the free throw line. In his career, he’s gone for 12.3 points and 5.6 rebounds while shooting 42.7% from the field, 38.6% from the free throw line and 85.9% from the charity stripe.
