When the Atlanta Hawks signed Paul Millsap just over a year ago, not much was made of it. However, Millsap proved to be a fantastic signing, helping the Hawks reach the playoffs in the absence of their best player, center Al Horford.

Paul Millsap is set to become a free agent after the 2014-2015 season and the Hawks obviously want to keep him but they are going to have to compete for his services.
According to Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal Constitution, the Hawks can’t extend Paul Millsap’s contract.
"Still, the services of the All-Star power forward will go on the open market following the season. By signing just a two-year deal last year, Millsap is destined for free agency according to the NBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement. He can still re-sign with the Hawks but there will definitely be competition.“We want to keep him,” coach Mike Budenholzer said. “He is someone who is really important to us. He fits us very well. We’ve communicated that with him on a regular basis.”"
The Hawks will likely have to spend a lot more than the $19 million over two years they gave Paul Millsap in free agency but they seem willing to do just that.
Paul Millsap averaged 17.9 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting 46.1% from the field, 35.8% from beyond the arc and 73.1% from the free throw line. In the postseason, Paul Millsap was even better. He put up 19.4 points, 10.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.9 blocks and 1.4 assists per game while shooting 39.8% from the field, 33.3% from three and 80.4% from the free throw line. In his eight-year career, he’s put up 13.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.0 blocks per game while shooting 50.7% from the field, 32.9% from three and 72.4% from the charity stripe.
