Could the Cleveland Cavaliers acquire Greg Monroe?
The Detroit Pistons selected Greg Monroe with seventh-overall pick in the first round of the 2010 draft and he has spent his entire career there. That may be coming to an end.

Monroe signed his qualifying offer in order to make him an unrestricted free agent in 2015. Although both the Pistons and Monroe say they haven’t ruled out a return, it seems like a long-shot.
One team that many have speculated have the pieces to make yet another big move is the Cleveland Cavaliers.
However, Larry Coon of Basketball Insiders doesn’t see the Cavaliers landing a player Monroe because they simply don’t have the funds to do it.
"Monroe didn’t take the risk of signing a one-year qualifying offer contract because he intended to take a mid-level salary next summer. You can be sure, he wants to have a good season, and then he wants to get PAID. Cleveland is already committed to $74 million next season, with the cap projected to be $66.3 million. All things being equal, I think the Cavs’ chances of landing Monroe are pretty slim. But Cleveland has a lot of players with options, including Bron & Love. A lot can change between now & then."
As much fun as it is to talk about the Cavaliers landing another star, they will likely continue to stock pile role players instead. Of course when you have LeBron James, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving, that’s probably all you need.
Last season, Monroe averaged 15.2 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 49.7% from the field and 65.7% from the free throw line last season. Monroe has put up 14.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 50.8% from the floor and 67.8% from the foul line in his career.
