Freshmen players quarterback Drew Barker, wide receiver Dorian Baker, defensive end Tymere Dubose, and running back Stanley Williams were charged with second degree disorderly conduct. Surveillance footage from the university showed them firing pellet or BB guns on campus Sunday night.
The players were apparently playing “man hunt” with the guns, and someone filed a report of shots fired. Campus police responded but found no suspects. They did find one of the air-powered guns discarded by one of the players before they fled.
The disorderly conduct charge carries a maximum of 90 days in jail.
Kentucky football coach Mark Stoops suspended the players for Saturday’s game against the South Carolina Gamecocks for violation of team rules.
Stoops stated that
“Proper conduct is emphasized as a core value of our program. If we have a situation in which someone who does not act according to our standards, we hold him accountable.”
Dubose and Barker have not played in a game so far this season, but Williams leads the team with 281 all purpose yards. Baker has 11 catches for 122 yards and a touchdown so far.
This will hamper Kentucky’s offense some as they try to move to 4-1 on the season when South Carolina comes to town. Kentucky won their first SEC game since November of 2011 with their win over Vanderbilt last weekend.
