By Bryan Rose
While the Houston Rockets had ideas of signing Carmelo Anthony and/or Chris Bosh this offseason, they eventually came to terms with Trevor Ariza.

No, Ariza doesn’t come with the name or pedigree of a player like Anthony or Bosh though he’s by no stretch a poor consolation prize. Trevor Ariza is also rather familiar with the Houston Rockets organization as this will be his second time in Clutch City which he says will be much different than the first go-around.
“This time is different. Everyone is healthy, We all want to win a championships and that is what is driving the bus.”
In terms of his individual game, Ariza suggest he’s a more complete player than his first stint with the Houston Rockets.
“I am definitely better at shooting the ball and defensively, I just give everything I have when I am on the court,” Ariza said.
While Ariza will be counted on to score his biggest asset will be his perimeter defense considering teammate James Harden is essentially non-existent on that side of the floor. Will Ariza returning to the Houston Rockets be enough though? He’ll certainly ease the blow of losing Chandler Parsons in free agency and instantly improves the overall team defense, though the Rockets may need to add another piece or two to find themselves in contention for the Larry O’Brien trophy.
