Tigers’ outfielder Rajai Davis left Game 2 with a groin injury
Detroit Tigers’ center fielder Rajai Davis left Game Two of the American League Divisional Series after re-injuring his groin:
Rajai Davis is done for the day. Surprised he even started. Pulled after a single off the wall. Yes, a single off the wall.

Rajai Davis was able to play three innings in center for the Tigers, but was lifted after a single to lead off the fourth in Baltimore on Friday afternoon. The Tigers entered today’s game trailing the host Baltimore Orioles in the ALDS, 1-0, and while Rajai Davis’ swing hasn’t been affected by the pelvic ligament injury he originally suffered last week, his legs have been. Tigers’ manager Brad Ausmus replaced Rajai Davis with pinch-runner Ezequiel Carrera, who remained in center for Detroit.
Rajai Davis went 1-3 in Thursday night’s Game One loss to Baltimore, but his legs weren’t tested in center. The single hit by Rajai Davis was off the left-field wall, and Rajai Davis, who has great speed, would likely have had a double had he not still been hurt, but as it was he was only able to manage a single before Ausmus lifted him.
Detroit has listed Rajai Davis as day-to-day with general tightness, but the Tigers could replace Rajai Davis on the roster if his condition worsens. Unfortunately, if Detroit replaces Rajai Davis on the roster, he can’t be added back to the roster until the World Series, if the Tigers were to advance that far.
