Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez was skating on thin ice at the end of 2014, but the club has finally made a decision on his future.

There was a lot of concern about the Atlanta Braves this year, as the team collapsed in the second half and missed the postseason. As the Braves watched the Washington Nationals claim the best record in the National League, talk of major change began to sweep through the quiet halls of Turner Field.

General manager Frank Wren was fired before the season was over which cast doubt over the future of manager Fredi Gonzalez on the bench. After much internal debate, as decision has been made on Gonzalez’s future in Atlanta and it seems he’s bought himself more time.

According to Jon Morosi from Fox Sports, the Atlanta Braves will be retaining Gonzalez as manager int he 2015 season.

Gonzalez has been with the Braves since 2011 but the team has yet to make a deep postseason run under his watch. He signed an extension this winter but that’s not something anyone should put much weight on. Frank Wren signed an extension t he same day his manager did and Wren is now out of a job.

Atalanta has allowed Gonzalez to keep his though, but given the sketchy nature of this season, expect the ice under the braves skipper to be thin in 015.
