Miguel Cabrera gets gunned down at home plate
In the top of the eighth inning of Game Two of the ALDS, the Detroit Tigers’ Miguel Cabrera was thrown out at the plate on an RBI-double by Victor Martinez, which proved to be crucial when the Baltimore Orioles rallied back for a 7-6 victory on Friday afternoon.

Cabrera, who has been nursing an ankle injury for most of the second half of the season, was easily thrown out at the plate, in what third base coach Dave Clark, who sent Cabrera, called a “bad decision” on his part.
Clark took full responsibility for the base running blunder, as the Tigers now find themselves on the brink of elimination, down 2-0 to Baltimore in the best-of-five game series. Clark said he stopped outfielder Torii Hunter in a similar situation earlier in the game because the Tigers were losing, but Detroit was ahead 5-3 when Martinez hit his double, so Clark decided to take the risk.

It’s a brutal base running error for the Tigers, who likely should have won Friday’s game, but Detroit’s bullpen imploded in the bottom of the eighth for four runs, and the Tigers ended up losing by the final score.
