Did Joe Buck try to jinx the Dodgers?

After trailing the St. Louis Cardinals 1-0 in the 3rd inning, the Los Angeles Dodgers rallied to score six runs on Adam Wainwright and the Cardinals, seemingly assuring a victory with ace Clayton Kershaw on the mound. Coming into this game, when given 4 or more runs of support, Clayton Kershaw has never lost an outing.

That statistic may very well be changing after tonight.

The Cardinals exposed Kershaw in the seventh inning and scored eight runs in the frame. Fox Sports play-by-play announcer Joe Buck told his viewers that Clayton Kershaw has never allowed a grand slam; in my best Lebron impression: not one, not two,  but three times in the inning.

It’s worth noting because Buck’s father, Jack Buck, was a Cardinals play-by-play announcer for 47 years, so Buck may still have a soft spot for the Cardinals organization.

Buck doesn’t control what happens on the field, and the Cardinals deserve a ton of credit for overcoming a five-run deficit against the best pitcher in baseball. Overcoming a huge lead like that could change the outcome of this series and turn all the momentum in the Cardinals direction, if the Cardinals can hold on and find a way to win this game.
