In the 2013, the Arizona Wildcats were one of only two teams to take down the Oregon Ducks.

On Thursday night, Arizona did it again, defeating second-ranked Oregon 31-24 in Autzen Stadium.

Anu Solomon 20-of-31 passes for 287 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Arizona carved up Oregon’s defense, gaining 208 yards on the ground and 497 total yards.

Marcus Mariota completed 20-of-32 passes for 276 yards with two touchdown passes and one touchdown reception.

Oregon drove down the field on their opening drive, converting a fourth down along the way. However, as they tried to convert for the second time on fourth down, Mariota’s pass was dropped and Arizona took over. They drove 58 yards in 11 plays but had to settle for a 28-yard Casey Skowron field goal.

Early in the second quarter, Oregon answered with an eight-play, 75-yard drive that ended in a touchdown pass from running back Royce Freeman to Mariota. Mariota powered his way in for the score.

Arizona had a chance to score at the end of the half but fumbled and Oregon took a 7-3 lead into the break.

Arizona received the second-half kick and quickly marched down the field. They scored on a three-yard touchdown run by Nick Wilson to regain the lead. Oregon answered on their next drive with a six-yard touchdown toss from Mariota to Devon Allen.

It took Arizona just 3:31 to regain the lead on another Wilson touchdown run, this one from two yards out. After a stop, Arizona got the ball back and quickly struck again. Solomon connected with Wilson on a 34-yard touchdown pass to make it 24-14.

Oregon then drove 72 yards but were stuffed inside the 10 and had to settle for a 21-yard Matt Wogan field goal. Arizona crossed the 50-yard line and into Oregon territory on their next possession but were stopped on fourth-and-two. Mariota took Oregon 66 yards in nine plays to tie things up with a nine-yard touchdown toss to Keanon Lowe.

Arizona drove back down the field, largely in thanks to a first down run by Terris Jones-Grigsby on third-and-20. Oregon got to Solomon three plays later to presumably force a field goal attempt. However, Tony Washington was called for unsportsmanlike conduct after taking a bow, Justin Tuck-style. A pass interference penalty a play later set Arizona up at the Oregon three-yard line. Three plays later, Jones-Grigsby got in from a yard out to make it 31-24 Arizona with 2:54 to go.

Oregon was nearing Arizona territory when Mariota was sacked by Scooby Wright III, who took the ball away from Mariota in the process, giving Arizona the ball back with only 2:11 to go.

After picking up a first down, Arizona was able to run the clock out to seal the victory.

The 5-0 Arizona Wildcats will play host to the 16th-ranked Southern Cal Trojans next Saturday while the Oregon Ducks will be in UCLA to take on the eighth-ranked Bruins.
