Brooklyn Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov made waves when he became the first billionaire NBA owner. Is he already looking to get out of the game or were we all led on a bit?

The Brooklyn Nets only just recently moved to New York, but already there has been talk of the team being sold out west. The most recent report was that Los Angeles Dodgers owner Mark Walter was interested in buying the team if current owner Mikhail Prokhorov wants to sell.

According to Mitch Abramson of the New York Daily News, Prokhorov has no interest in doing that.

"“He’s not a seller. He wants the Nets and he loves the Nets and he wants to be controlling owner. This is something that he really enjoys.”"

This could mean one of a few different things, of which selling the team is still an option. Prokohorov would want to get a significant return on his sale of the Nets, especially after the $1.4 billion sale of the Buffalo Bills and the $2 billion sale of the Los Angeles Clippers.

Of course, the Clippers sale was under unique circumstances and the Bills are in the most profitable and popular league in the country. However, the Nets could prove to be a pricey receipt for whoever wants to purchase the team.

All of this depends on the validity of the rumors about Prokhorov wanting to sell the team. So far those rumors haven’t fermented into truth but these things have a funny have of suddenly moving very quickly.
