Melvin Manhoef meets Joe Schilling at Bellator 131
By Jacob Cooper
Bellator 131 was already looking to be an exciting card, but the addition of two talented kickboxers has made it an even more attractive event.
A bout between talented kickboxers has been added to Bellator 131, as former Strikeforce talent Melvin Manhoef will step into the cage against Joe Schilling. Schilling announced the match-up via Twitter, and he will be making his debut in the Bellator cage.

While Schilling hasn’t had a tremendous amount of success in mixed martial arts, he has established himself as a talented kickboxer in recent months. Schilling is best known for his stint at Glory World Series, where he recently reached the middleweight ‘last man standing’ tournament final in June.
After a stint in MMA in 2008 where he went 1-3, Schilling’s stand-up game has improved massively and will cause some problems to the veteran Manhoef. Still just 30, Schilling has many years to make his mark in MMA, and that could all start with a huge win over a big name in Melvin Manhoef.
Manhoef, now 38, is entering the twilight stage of his career but has won two straight, including a successful Bellator debut against Doug Marshall. The Dutchman is showing no signs of slowing down just yet, and a win over a respected kickboxer in Joe Schilling could put the division on alert.
With wins over the likes of Denis Kang, Mark Hunt, Kazushi Sakuraba and Kazuo Misaki, ‘No Mercy’ has fought 42 times in MMA alone, and this experience could be too much for Schilling to handle.
