P. A. Parenteau left the ice with an injury on Saturday

Raise your hand if your team doesn’t have an injured player right now! *looks around, sees no hands*

The Montreal Canadiens are one of the teams hoping that everyone would be starting the season healthy, but that could not be the case. Early in the first period of Saturday night’s matchup between Montreal and the Ottawa Senators, one of the team’s players has been sent off the ice. This time, it’s a player brand new to the Bell Centre- P.A. Parenteau.

  • Parenteau was acquired by the Canadiens this summer, in a trade that sent him to Canada and Canadiens center Daniel Briere to the Colorado Avalanche. He was expected to provide relief for the team in lieu of the 36-year-old they sent to Colorado; in 291 career games, the 31-year-old has scored 73 goals.

Though there has been no specification as to what happened to P.A. Parenteau exactly, the team has confirmed that he will sit out the remainder of the game due to a lower-body injury.

The Montreal Canadiens are hoping that this is the year they break out and finally win another Stanley Cup- although the team has more than any other NHL team in history (24), they have failed to take home a championship since their successful 1992-1993 season.
