In East Carolina’s 45-24 win over the SMU Mustangs on Saturday, Carden passed David Garrard as the program’s all-time passing leader with 9,234 career passing yards. Garrars had 9,029 before he embarked on a nine-year career in the NFL. He threw for 410 yards and four touchdowns in the rout.
Carden already owned the record for touchdown passes which now stands at 71 after he threw four in the first half en route to taking a 28-7 lead to the break against the overmatched Mustangs on Saturday.
With program records falling, Carden is seeing his NFL Draft stock rising and could be an intriguing name to monitor for the remainder of the season and during the offseason at the combine and leading up to the draft.
Carden has thrown for 1,879 yards, 15 touchdowns and three interceptions on the year while completing 64.8 percent of his passes.
