James Shields, the man known as “Big Game James” and the one whom the Royals acquired for these moments, will get another chance to come through on the big stage. His Wild Card start was cut short, and now Shields will hope to be the pitcher who carries his team to a sweep over the Angels.
“Obviously we’re up 2-0, but you’ve got to think about the team we’re facing,” Shields said via the Kansas City Star. “I mean, they’re a pretty dangerous team. Just because we’re up 2-0 doesn’t mean we have to stay lackadaisical. We’ve got to keep grinding.”
Shields will start for the Royals, while C.J. Wilson will take the mound for the Angels.
