Cavs to keep LeBron James happy by signing Tristan Thompson?
By Bryan Rose
Although the Cleveland Cavaliers have until October 31st to extend a contract extension to Tristan Thompson, it doesn’t appear as if the two sides will be able to complete a deal before the deadline strikes.

That doesn’t mean the Cavs are completely opposed to the idea of bringing back Tristan Thompson at season end however. In fact, they may be best served by doing so as it’s believed bringing Thompson back will appease LeBron James according to Ohio.com.
"If recent history is any indication, James will want to see Thompson get paid, and the Cavs want to keep James happy."
So why would bringing Thompson back be such a big deal for LeBron James? Outside of the fact that the two have become good friends off the court, Tristan Thompson also shares the same agent as LeBron James. That may not be a big deal on the surface though if James was to be upset by the Cavs opting to let Tristan Thompson walk in free agency, that could become a problem when it comes to the Cavs re-signing LeBron James after the 2016 season.
We’ve already seen reports suggesting the Miami Heat’s decision to amnesty Mike Miller (another friend of LeBron James) played a role in King James leaving South Beach so Cleveland may be best served keeping their icon happy.
Tristan Thompson is expected to be named the Cleveland Cavaliers starting center and the Cavs are hoping he won’t draw much interest in restricted free agency come season end.
