Denver Nuggets’ Ty Lawson had minor bone damage
By Ed Carroll
Ty Lawson thought it was a sprained ankle that limited him to 62 games with the Denver Nuggets last season, but further tests this summer revealed the point guard had minor bone damage, and will wear a small brace this season.

The ankle doesn’t bother Lawson any more, and he’s reportedly moving around the court fine in camp, but it requires almost daily maintenance, including the ankle brace, and Nuggets staff will likely have to keep a close watch on Lawson to make sure the ankle isn’t re-injured during the season.
Christopher Dempsey of The Denver Post notes that the Nuggets will have 21 back-t0-back games, and a number of stretches with four games in five nights, so making sure Ty Lawson’s ankle isn’t under too much stress will become crucial to keeping the 26-year old on the court.
Despite only playing in 62 games, which was the second-least in his career, Ty Lawson still logged 2,222 minutes, which was the second-highest total of his five-year career. He also had career-highs in points per game (17.6) and assists per game (8.8). Lawson played just two games in April last season due to the ankle injury, but he did not require surgery for the ankle.
