Although the Angels had the best record in baseball this season and the Royals had to rally from four down to defeat the Oakland Athletics in the Wild Card Game, the Royals won game one 3-2 and game two 4-1, both in 11 innings.
The Angels got off to a great start in game one thanks to a solo homer from Mike Trout in the first inning. A three-run double by Alex Gordon gave the Royals the lead in the bottom half.
Then, in the third, Eric Hosmer launched a two-run home run to push the lead to 5-1.
