Steven Jackson ties the game for Falcons

Atlanta Falcons running back Steven Jackson ran it in the end zone for 10 yards to tie the game against the New York Giants 7-7 late in the first quarter.

Jackson bounced outside to the left edge and thanks to some great blocking was able to pound it into the end zone.

More from Atlanta Falcons

After a three-and-out on their first possession, the Falcons were able to march 80 yards on 10 plays to tie the game up. The big play of the drive was a 22-yard throw from Matt Ryan to Julio Jones that put the Falcons on their own 47, hunting. Another pass to Julio Jones for 11 yards set up the 10-yard run by Jackson.

The Falcons and Giants are both 2-2 headed into the game, trying to avoid slipping below .500. The Giants are missing key defender Jon Beason in the game, but they have been 2-0 without him this season. Giants quarterback Eli Manning comes into the game with nine touchdowns and a career high in passer rating (93.6) and completion percentage (66.9).

A weak offensive line may trouble the Falcons today as they lost center Joe Hawley and right tackle Lamar Holmes for the rest of the season with injuries last week with injuries. We’ll see who can come out on top after a tied 7-7 game after the first quarter.
