The Detroit Lions have cut Alex Henery
As if that was a surprise to anyone, the Detroit Lions have made it official and have released kicker Alex Henery. Fresh off of missing three field goals for his new team on Sunday, the Lions quickly realized he was not going to be their answer in regards to straightening out their kicking woes.

Alex Henery was signed by the Lions after being released by the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this year. Nate Freese, a rookie, was who the Lions decided to go with out of the gate, and he let them down miserably as well.
The writing was on the wall for Alex Henery. He missed a potential game winning field goal against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, in turn allowing Bills kicker Dan Carpenter to nail a 58 yarder propelling the Bills to a 17-14 victory.

Detroit has struggled mightily in the kicking game since the departure of Jason Hanson. However, the Denver Broncos just released Matt Prater over the weekend and he is immediately eligible to return to the field following his suspension. Many believe he is the odds on favorite to be signed by the Lions.
Detroit heads to Minnesota this weekend to take on the Vikings and they may have to do so without Calvin Johnson as well. The Minnesota Vikings will get Teddy Bridgewater back under center, and the woes for the Lions could be starting to mount.
Stay tuned as Detroit will likely announce a signing before the end of the day.
