While the Baltimore Orioles don’t have to deal with the drama of a four or five game series with the Detroit Tigers thanks to their sweep on Sunday afternoon, the easy series victory isn’t all good news.

More from Baltimore Orioles

Had the Orioles extended their series its very possible the team could have opted to bring back slugger Chris Davis who is currently in the midst of a 25-game suspension. However, given the sweep Davis still has five games left on his suspension.

That would leave only two possible games for Chris Davis to play in which understandably makes little sense for the Baltimore Orioles. Because of that, it’s not expected that Chris Davis will be added to the Orioles’ roster during their American League Championship series against the Kansas City Royals.

"Although no decision regarding Davis has been made — the Orioles aren’t discussing a potential ALCS with this series ongoing — the sense within the organization is that Davis would have to be eligible for at least four of the seven potential ALCS games to be a sensible inclusion. Rosters must be set at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, the morning of Game 1 of the ALCS."

Some many question why the Orioles would even want Chris Davis in the lineup given his woeful batting average though many around the team allegedly feel his power threat is worrisome for the Royals and he’d benefit the team by being in the starting lineup.

At this point though that doesn’t appear to be the case as the Orioles can’t afford to play a man down for five of the potential seven games.

It’s very likely Chris Davis would return if the Baltimore Orioles were to make the World Series.
