Bryant returned from a torn Achilles he suffered late in the 2012-2013 season. He saw his first action on December 8 in a 106-94 loss to the Toronto Raptors. Bryant began logging more minutes and even notched three 20-point games but he made it just six games before injuring his knee. He missed the rest of the season with a fractured tibia.
When Bryant does hit the court on Monday night, he will playing with a lot of new faces. One Bryant’s favorite teammates, Pau Gasol, left the Los Angeles Lakers for the Chicago Bulls. Jodie Meeks signed with the Detroit Pistons and Kent Bazemore is a member of the Atlanta Hawks. The Los Angeles Lakers were able to re-sign Nick Young and Jordan Hill. They also added three solid players in Jeremy Lin, Carlos Boozer and Ed Davis.
The Denver Nuggets, who may have been the only team hit harder than injuries than the Los Angeles Lakers. They are hoping to get major contributions from Danilo Gallinari, Ty Lawson and Wilson Chandler, who were all banged up last season. It will be the (re)debut of Arron Afflao, who was traded from the Denver Nuggets to the Orlando Magic in the Dwight Howard trade. Denver sent Evan Fournier and a second round pick (Devyn Marble) to get Afflalo back on draft day. It will also be the first time Kenneth Faried will be in action since he agreed to his brand new extension Sunday night.
